Road" Read the two derivations of the word "Serangoon"
below. By looking at the old map of
Singapore, which do you think is an appropriate explanation? 1.
It is interesting to note that perhaps the word "Serangoon"
derived from the Malay words "di-serang dengan gong" i.e. to frighten

The word "serangoon" could have been derived from the Malay
word "ranggung" which were black and white birds with sharp bills that
