Directed by: John McTiermanCast:
Pierre Brosnan, Rene Russo, Denis Leary
Synopsis: Thomas Crown, played by the
ever charming Brosnan is a filthy rich businessman who owned a
acquistions company. Deep within him is a zest for thrill and
adventure. He planned the biggest crime by taking a Monet painting
from the Museum right under the noses of the security guards. His
"kleptomania" brought him faced to face with a "bounty
hunter" Catherine Banning( played by the ever sexy Rene Russo) who
suspected him. The result is a battle of wits and charms where
both parties gradually fall in love with one another.
My Say
This movie, a remake of the original is not to be
compared. With a greater budget and a tighter production crew, one
would expected a better-polished work. Together with actors like
Brosnan and Leary, actress like Rene Russo, the play like up to its
billing of being a sexy film.
The show itself present a coherent picture but in its
bid to increase the entertainment value of the film failed to explore
other aspects. It stressed too much on the on screen chemistry but
failed to look deeper into the character development. It is also
quite amazing that a woman can fall head over heels for a man after
knowing him merely for a few days or so. Such "Pretty
Woman" fairytale seems to be overplayed in this movie. Another
glaring flaw lies with Brosnan's character, doesn't he realise that his
act of stealing will have seriou consequences?
Whereas the plot may seems flawed, the cast saved the
show. Women is like good wine, it gets better with age. Face it, I
was really skeptical about the 40 somethings sizzling the big screen
when the trends in movies had been saccharine sweet actresses and hunky
boys. I have not a single doubt about Brosnan, remembering his
savvy looks and charms in the 007 series, but Rene Russo? I must
say that I deserved to give Russo an apology for doubting her
capabilites but I must say she look really good. Watch out for the
passonate dance between Russo and Brosnan, just see them sizzling the
big screen is worth every single dollar of the ticket.
